LAOTIAN BUDDHA

The Buddha is seated cross legged in the lotus position on a massive throne with his right hand touching the earth. His clothing is only outlined by folds crossing his chest. The face is triangular with a wide forehead and a straight nose. Lao Buddhist images were often influenced by the Sukhothai. In this case it can clearly be seen in the broad shoulders and the solid thick chest.
