18.5" tall
upper portion of a Burmese paper mache Buddha in the earth touching position. The Buddha is dressed in the simple garp of a monk, his ears curve out and touch the shoulders. The face is triangular in shape with a pointed nose and a small, bow-like mouth. All of this and the down-cast eyes are attributes of the Ava period. Patina and wear of the paper mache date this piece to the early 1800s.
