Sema Bai are the boundary stones which designate the sacred area for the ordination hall (ubosot) of a Thai Buddhist temple. The word "Bai" in Thai means leaf and the flat Sema stones always have the shape of a leaf somewhat akin to the shape of the leaves of the Bodhi tree, the tree under which the Buddha achieved enlightenment.
