PAIR OF RICE BOWLS

19th century Korean Punchong ware made of earthenware. The heavily potted bowls have a grey white slip glaze which is thicker around the low circular base where it has accumulated during firing. The slightly irregular surface endows the bowls with a vibrant beauty and represents the experimental spirit of its time.
