Artistically carved "meeting place sign" by Yama Oka Tetsutaro. Tetsutaro (1836-1888) was an important retainer of the Shogun and the Meiji Period Emporer. The sign translates to "Virtuous as a Dream" and has been skillfully carved to portray the calligraphic brushstrokes that incorperate the natural flow and knots of the wood.
