Tibetan prayer box used to hold protective amulets, personal dieties and written prayers. This "Gau" does not have side handles to strap to a belt like a portable shrine box, it probably was used as a home altar. The back and the sides of the shrine are made of copper and the front has been decorated with mythical creatures.
