Unusual letter opener and case made of bamboo and bone. The case has a sliding top with a raised relief carving depicting lotus blossoms with a magpie sitting on a weeping willow. The lotus and magpie symbolize purity and happiness, the weeping willows were favored by scholars and poets to draw inspiration while strolling among them.
